The little pixies difference

At Little Pixies, childhood is about adventure, discovery, and belonging. We believe every child and family is unique, and we take time to build strong relationships from the very beginning, through warm welcomes, settling-in visits, and the little everyday moments that matter.

Our nursery is rooted in nature and nurture. From forest school sessions to calm, caring daily routines, children are encouraged to explore, play, and grow with confidence. Alongside our focus on the Early Years Foundation Stage, we believe the best learning often happens naturally, through curiosity, imagination, and shared experiences. A feather found in the garden, a kite flying in the wind, or a story about dinosaurs can spark whole new worlds of discovery.

Wellbeing and nourishment are central to nursery life. Our freshly prepared, healthy meals are enjoyed together around the table, creating happy routines, positive food habits, and opportunities to talk and connect. We know that sitting together at mealtimes is just as important as what’s on the plate.

Families are at the heart of everything we do. As both a nursery owner and a parent herself, Sarah understands the challenges and joys of the journey. With an open-door approach and a genuine willingness to listen, she and the team work in partnership with families to ensure every child feels safe, happy, and ready for new adventures.

Sarah

Director & Designated Safegaurding lead

Since opening Little Pixies in 2011, Sarah has been at the heart of the nursery every day. As both an owner and a parent, she understands the challenges of balancing family and work, and this empathy shapes the caring, supportive environment that Little Pixies is known for.

Although much of her time is now spent managing the business, Sarah still loves being hands-on with the children whenever she can. She is a Level 3 Early Years Educator and an experienced Safeguarding Lead, ensuring that children’s safety and wellbeing are always the top priority.

With a background in business, finance, and team leadership, Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge to running the nursery, but her greatest passion is seeing children thrive. She believes in never standing still, always learning, and constantly developing both the nursery and its practitioners to provide the very best start for every child.

Sarah has lived in Shropshire since her teens and is married with a daughter, which gives her a deep understanding of family life in the local community. Warm, approachable, and always ready to listen, she makes sure every family feels welcome at Little Pixies.

Heidi

Nursery Manager, Curriculum lead & Senco

Heidi has been working with children since qualifying with her NNEB in 1996, bringing over two decades of experience to Little Pixies. During her career she has worked in a variety of settings, including a Montessori nursery, which has given her a wealth of knowledge and a well-rounded approach to early years care and education.

Since joining Little Pixies over nine years ago, Heidi has continued to grow her expertise. She has completed SENCO training, gained her NVQ Level 3, and regularly attends courses and forums covering safeguarding, first aid, behaviour management and more. This commitment to learning ensures she stays up to date with changing guidance and continues to bring best practice to the team.

As a mum herself, Heidi truly understands how much trust it takes to leave your child in someone else’s care. Her empathy, experience, and calm, caring nature make her a reassuring and supportive presence for both children and families at Little Pixies.

Jade

Elves Room Leader & Deputy Manager (Pre-school)

Jade joined Little Pixies in 2022 and brings a wealth of experience in leading pre-school rooms and supporting children as they prepare for school. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, alongside specialist training in speech and language, safeguarding, behaviour management, and Makaton.

Passionate about outdoor learning, Jade is also a Level 3 Forest School Leader and loves helping children embrace the outdoors in all weathers. Her calm, caring nature and creative approach ensure children gain the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need for their next steps.

Lucy

Sprites Room Leader (24/26 months – 36 months)

Lucy joined Little Pixies in 2022 and leads our busy Sprites Room with energy and care. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education and has completed training in Exemplary Practice with Two-Year-Olds.

With previous leadership experience, Lucy brings strong organisational skills and a nurturing approach to her role. She loves supporting two-year-olds as they develop independence, build confidence, and express themselves, while ensuring they always feel secure and supported.

Bethany

Fawns Room Leader (12 weeks – 16/18 months)

Bethany joined Little Pixies in May 2024, bringing over 11 years of experience in Early Years education. She holds a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, a Level 5 Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management, and a Level 4 qualification in Child Development, alongside a wealth of experience across Baby Room, Pre-School, and senior management roles.

As both a Room Leader and an Early Years Consultant, Bethany is passionate about inspiring others through training and development. In the Fawns Room, she is dedicated to creating the very best quality of care for babies, adapting to their individual needs, and building strong, nurturing relationships that support every child’s learning and development from the very start.

Gemma

Imps Room Leader (16/18 months – 24/26 months)

Gemma joined Little Pixies December 2025; she holds a Level 3 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education, as well as a Level 3 qualification in Team Leadership and Management. For the past 24 years, Gemma has worked with children across both private and school settings, taking on roles including Room Leader, Teaching Assistant, and one-to-one support.

Her career has taken me all over my beloved home city of Liverpool—from the leafy suburbs of Lydiate to the vibrant heart of Toxteth and Granby. Wherever she works, she brings with her a deep passion for stories and a love of sharing that passion with the children in her care. Within the Imp’s Room, she aims to create a warm, happy, and homely environment where children feel safe, inspired, and supported as they grow and learn.
